# Datasets — Texas well reports, reconciled and dated — texas-water-wells

> 708,722 well reports and 5,345,462 rock layers, with firm names reconciled. Subscription, county slice or full snapshot, with prices.

## Datasets

What sells is not the snapshot, it is the stream. Reports arrive every week; a file downloaded today is out of date by the month's end.

The pages of this site are free and will stay free : **an official fact belongs to no one**. What is sold here is the compilation work — extracting the Texas well report database, reconciling it, dating it, and delivering it in a usable form.

### ⚠️ What we add, and what we merely copy

The state's file is free and you can download it yourself — 151 MB
of pipe-delimited text in eighteen tables. What you cannot download is the
reconciliation. Every fill rate below is measured on the file we hold, and a
⚠️ marks a column the source does **not** contain.

*Fields delivered and fill rate, measured on the rows actually delivered — not estimated*

| Field | Description | Filled |
|---|---|---|
| `tracking_number` | The well report tracking number — the key | 100.0 % |
| `county / grid` | County and state well grid cell | 100.0 % |
| `purpose` | What the well was drilled for | 100.0 % |
| `drilled_depth` | ⚠️ ⚠️ Bottom of the driller's log — the source has no depth column; we take it from the deepest logged layer | 88.3 % |
| `water_level` | Depth at which water was struck | 53.2 % |
| `yield_gpm` | Tested yield, with implausible values flagged | 41.6 % |
| `firm` | ⚠️ ⚠️ Reconciled firm name — 9,323 spellings collapsed to 4,784 firms | 99.3 % |
| `rock_log` | ⚠️ ⚠️ 5,345,462 layers, joined to the well and banded by depth | 99.9 % |
| `plugged` | Plugging report number where the well has been plugged | 17.2 % |
| `no owner data` | ⚠️ ⚠️ Owner name, owner address, well address and coordinates are deliberately absent — see the privacy page | 0.0 % |

The 4 fields marked ⚠️ **do not exist in the source** : we add them — a join, a normalisation, or a reconstructed history. That is the part a buyer cannot reproduce by downloading the official file.

### What it costs

- **Change feed — USD 300 / month**Or USD 3 000 a year. At every collection, what came in, went out or changed since the previous one. This is the part that does not age.
- **One slice — USD 90 / month**The feed restricted to a single county, for those who do not need the rest.
- **Full snapshot — USD 4 000, once**The state of the register on the day of delivery, every field included. Listed last on purpose : a snapshot ages.

### Order

Tell us what you need : we reply with a sample, the field dictionary, and an invoice. **No payment is taken on this site** — an order opens a conversation.

Prices in USD, before any applicable tax. Delivered as CSV and Parquet, by download link. Every request is answered by hand.

Working on your own list rather than the whole file? That is [Pro access](/pro.md).

**Not a consumer reporting agency.** This site
and the datasets sold from it are **not** consumer reports under
the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and must not be used to decide anyone's
eligibility for employment, credit, insurance, housing, or any other purpose
covered by the FCRA. If you need a background check, use a screening company
that operates as a consumer reporting agency.
