## Privacy

The state file names the owner of every well in Texas. This site does not hold that data at all.

### ⚠️ What we deliberately do not hold

The state file behind this site names the owner of every well, their postal address, the address of the well, its exact coordinates and even the distance from their septic tank. **None of it is on this site.** Those columns are not filtered out at display time — they are never read into our database at all, which is the only guarantee worth making. What you see is the ground and the licensed firms that drilled it.

The columns concerned, with the share of the state file that fills them:
owner name (100.0%), owner postal address (99.4%), owner city (99.7%), owner
ZIP (96.8%), well street address (91.1%), well city (93.0%), exact latitude
and longitude (100.0%), and the distance from the well to the septic tank
(18.8%).

The state publishes all of it behind a map you click, which no search
engine indexes. Turning it into indexable pages would not be republishing the
source — it would **create** a searchable
« name → home address → what is under their
land » directory that does not exist today. We are not going to be
the ones who make it.

### What the site collects on its own

Nothing. No analytics, no advertising, no cookie, no account. Searching
happens in your browser: the query never leaves it as a page request, which
is why a search shows in the address bar after a `#` and produces
no server record of what you looked for.

### What you can choose to send

The forms on this site send what you type to Formspree, which delivers it
to us by email: your email address, the county or town you name, and whatever
you write. We keep it in order to answer you.

### ⚠️ How we are paid, in plain terms

Two ways, and neither is hidden. We sell access to the compiled dataset
and work on lists — the [Pro access](/pro.md) and
[Datasets](/data.md) pages, with prices published. And we intend to
be paid by the firms we pass enquiries to. We have no such arrangement today.
We are nobody's agent, we vouch for nobody, and we do not claim otherwise.

### Firms are businesses, not people

This site names licensed drilling companies, which hold a public licence
number and file public reports as businesses. If a name on this site is your
own rather than a company's, or you believe something here identifies you
personally, write to us and we will remove it.
